1. Who we are

DERATE (“the app”) is operated by VARGER GROUP LLC. This notice explains what we collect, why, and how you remove it.

2. What we collect

• Account: email address and sign-in identifiers when you create an account.
• Diagnostics: fault codes you type, the reading extracted from your photo, the verdict we generate, and optional truck/VIN and unit number.
• Photos: the dashboard or scanner-screen image you capture.
• Billing: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
• Settings: language, units, mode and text-to-speech preferences, stored on your device.

3. How photos are used

A photo is sent to our AI vision providers only to read the text and warning lights on the screen. The image is not published, not sold, and not used to train models. We keep the extracted reading with your scan history; the picture itself is not retained after the diagnosis is produced.

4. Who processes your data

• Cloud database and authentication (hosting of your account and scan history).
• AI model providers (Google, Alibaba Cloud, OpenRouter) for reading and reasoning.
• Stripe for subscriptions and one-time passes.
• NHTSA vPIC for public VIN decoding, when you enter a VIN.

We do not sell personal data and we do not run third-party advertising trackers.

5. Your controls

• Delete any scan from History; deletion is immediate and permanent.
• Request full account deletion by writing to us; we remove account data and history.
• Cancel a subscription at any time from the billing portal.

6. Safety disclaimer

DERATE is a diagnostic assistant. It does not replace a certified technician or the manufacturer service manual, and it is not a safety system.
